How long does a visit to Arktikum usually take?

Plan to spend at least 1 hour exploring Arktikum.

What time do ticket sales end?

Ticket sales end 30 minutes before closing time.

What is the difference between an Arktikum exhibition ticket and the Culture Pass?

Your Arktikum ticket grants you entry to Arktikum’s exhibitions on the selected day. The Culture Pass is a combined ticket providing access to Arktikum and Korundi House of Culture. It’s personal and valid for 7 days, allowing you to visit each location as many times as you like during that period.

Does the student discount also apply to students studying outside Finland?

Yes. The student discount is valid for all students, regardless of which country you study in.

Where can I park?

Enjoy 4 hours of free parking in Arktikum’s parking lot with a parking disc. Please note that camping in the parking lot is prohibited. Arktikum is located about a 10-minute walk from Rovaniemi city centre, so walking is recommended.

Are pets allowed in the exhibitions?

Pets do not have access to Arktikum, but service dogs and assistance dogs are warmly welcome to assist their owner during the visit.

DURING THE VISIT

Is there a coat check at Arktikum?

Arktikum offers a free, unstaffed coat rack and a limited number of lockers. Please leave backpacks, large bags, umbrellas, and thick/wet coats on the coat rack.

Can I take a backpack or bag into the exhibition?

Please leave your belongings in the locked lockers located near the coat racks or in the luggage room. While moving through the exhibition, a backpack or large bag might accidentally bump into other visitors or exhibition items. It’s more comfortable to walk around without a heavy bag.

Can I store my luggage at Arktikum?

Larger items can be stored in the luggage room during your visit. The luggage room is unattended and located close to the information and ticket desk.

Is there a childcare room at Arktikum?

The childcare room is located to the right after the ticket sales and shop. The same space also serves as a first aid room. The childcare room includes a child-sized toilet seat, a chair, a microwave, and a changing table. The childcare room has strollers available to borrow. Please note that the number of strollers is limited. Read more about visiting with children here.

Can I wear studded shoes inside Arktikum?

Please remove studded shoes before entering the building. A limited number of shoe covers are available for borrowing.

Can I take photos and videos inside Arktikum?

Feel free to take photos and videos for personal use. Please avoid using flash, selfie sticks, or tripods. You may also share your photos on social media using #arktikum and @arktikumofficial. For media or marketing inquiries, please contact us in advance – see our Media page.

Why is running not allowed in the exhibitions?

To ensure that no accidents happen, running is not allowed in the exhibitions. You can also read tips for visiting with children here.

Are visitors allowed to touch the exhibition items?

Please don´t touch any museum objects or taxidermy animals. There is plenty in the exhibitions that you can touch and do, especially in the Science Centre exhibition.

Is there free Wi-Fi at Arktikum?

Free Wi-Fi is available throughout Arktikum.

FOOD, DRINK AND SHOP

Can I visit the Arktikum Shop and Arktikum Café without an entrance ticket?

The Arktikum Shop and Café are open to all visitors, no admission ticket required.

Can I leave the exhibitions to visit Arktikum Café and then return?

You can visit the Café and return to the exhibitions by showing your admission ticket at the ticket sales desk.

Can you eat your own snacks at Arktikum?

Eating or drinking is not allowed in the Arktikum exhibitions. Please leave your water bottle and snacks in the cloakroom. You can purchase lunch, coffee and snacks from the Arktikum café when it is open. At other times, it is possible to eat your own snacks in the lobby. Please collect your trash when you leave.

How do I get to the Arctic Garden?

The Arctic Garden is located behind Arktikum, on the banks of the Ounasjoki river. You can walk to the Arctic Garden from Rovaniemi city centre via the riverside path or from Arktikum’s parking lot. Please follow the signs. In winter, the garden is primarily a walking path and a place to relax. In summer, the garden comes into full bloom when the Arctic plant species emerge. Admission to the garden is free.

How can I order a taxi?

Taxis can be booked by calling a taxi company or using a taxi app. Visit Rovaniemi provides information on getting around in Rovaniemi.

How can I get to the Arctic Circle and Santa Claus Village?

Local bus number 8 takes you to the Arctic Circle and Santa Claus Village. Find the bus timetable on the Visit Rovaniemi page on getting around in Rovaniemi. The nearest bus stop to Arktikum is located about a 10-minute walk away at street address Rovakatu P.
